This natural, very durable, versatile and energy efficient product works the same way a cast iron product would, but better. Because of soapstone’s thermal qualities, once the griddle has reached it’s peak temperature of 800 + degrees, it will remain hot for a long time after the fire is off, allowing it to be removed from the stove top or grill, and continue cooking for up 30+ minutes before it starts cooling off.
Our soapstone griddle has two sides, one is flat that can be used to cook eggs, pancakes, etc and the griddle/grooved side for steaks, chicken, shrimp, etc.
It can also be used as a nice cheese or sushi tray. Put it in the freezer or refrigerator 3 hours prior to use, and it can be used as a cold cuts serving tray.
Needs to be cured prior to first use. Just oil both surfaces with olive oil, wipe off excess oil and bake it in the oven at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Wait until it is back to room temperature and the soapstone is ready to go on the stove top or grill.
Soapstone is naturally non porous, odorless and tasteless. Due to these qualities, soapstone will never alter the taste of your food. Soapstone is inert to acids, chemicals and obviously, heat.
Easy to clean, any common household cleaner can be used. The green side of the sponge and detergent is all it takes to clean your soapstone griddle.
We hand-make our soapstone griddles in Hackensack, New Jersey, from excess factory countertop material, reducing waste.
